Do I need to have xbox live gold to play black ops against my son in the same house on the same router.

Hi,

If you wanted to play 1 on 1 only then you wouldn't require Gold as you could use the "System Link" option. If you wanted to play Call of Duty Black Ops online with him against others, you would need an Xbox Live Gold Membership. As you would need 3 Gold accounts if you want them all on Xbox Live to play any games together, or against anyone else, you would really benefit from buying the Xbox Live Gold Family pack. You get 4 Xbox Live Gold 12 month memberships for £69.99 (currently there is an offer on giving you 13 months and a free game)! The 12 month memberships are £30+ individually, so make a nice saving doing it that way.

You can also play split screen online, if you didn't already know. If you use the player match option in multiplayer and then add another controller while in the lobby (before you search for a game) you can then sign in a controller on a guest account and will appear as Your Gamertag(1).
