As 343 Industries is hard at work on a 'new high profile Halo experience' rumoured to be a remake of the original game that started it all - namely Halo: Combat Evolved - Microsoft registered an URL for 'HaloKinect.com' way back in June 2010, according to Whois information obtained by Gaming Reloaded.

While this doesn't definitively prove that there's a Kinect-powered Halo game in the pipeline, it does suggest that Microsoft might be looking to eventually take that direction with the franchise one day, unless it's hedging its bets and snapping up the domain name before anyone else gets there first, which is a distinct possibility.

Or 343 Industries might be making a Halo Kinect title, and the whole Combat Evolved speculation is simply bogus. Or maybe the studio is making both? You decide. Until MS is forthcoming with an official announcement, it's anyone's guess what comes next for the Halo franchise.

When asked how such a game would work on Kinect, Creative Director, Kudo Tsunoda gave us an example at last year's Gamescom in Cologne: "Hypothetically, just as a design person, if I was going to try and think of a way of doing a first-person shooter, you could get up and hold a gun up with your fingers, aim by pointing around, move by actually moving in and out with the gun as you're aiming, getting strafing on your shoulders, getting head-tracking with your head, using your front hand to shoot the gun and throwing grenades by performing an overarm action. That would be one way you could do a first-person shooter, which I just made up on the spot."
