With Halo: Reach on the horizon this year, Bungie has been talking up the game quite a bit. According to some recent comments made by the developers, Reach will push the Xbox 360 to its limits.
In an interview with Edge Magazine [via Joystiq], Bungie revealed that unlike ODST, Halo: Reach will be running on a new engine that is “bending the Xbox 360 as far as it’ll bend.” The previous title, ODST ran on the old Halo 3 engine which is already over three years old. With the new engine, the graphics, AI and physics have been dramatically improved.
Creative director of Bungie, Marcus Lehto stated, "We are… taking every advantage of everything on the CPU and GPU, and every bit of memory in order to produce the look of Reach beyond anything of Halo 3.” Its good to see that Bungie has decided to push the limits of the Xbox 360 and not just resting on its laurels. Lehto attributes the developers technical prowess to the years spent developing on the Xbox 360.
