We have some disappointing news for Xbox 360 and PS3 owners now, as Sega has confirmed that the release date of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has now been delayed until later on in the year.

As reported from VG247, the game was expected to release in the Summer on both the Playstation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace.

Episode 1 of the game is also due out on the Nintendo Wii and Sega posted the following statement for the delay of the game.

It turns out that they want to: “ensure overall high-quality throughout the game by continuing to tune, balance, and maintain the kind of polish that an important title like this demands”.

I wonder how long this is, because it's called part 1 which sort of implies that it's not a full Sonic game.

What kinda sucks since you could complete the other sonic games in about 40 mins.

For all we know it could be a full sized Sonic game but they just decided to call it Sonic 4 episode 1 so they wouldn't have to call subsequent XBLA Sonics 5 and 6 ect.

Maybe, but they could have just given the upcoming games a nice subtitle. I'm going to guess its episodic, what means they are going to give it a story and that is going to lead to a crap sonic game because nobody plays sonic for the story.

Yeah that sounds about right. I'm not really interested in this anyways, i always thought Mario was better.
