About LinkBacksOk so a few days ago my drive just wouldnt stay closed & therefore wouldnt read any disks, so i have taken the whole thing apart and i removed the disk tray & raised the spindle & placed a disk on it with the magnet & it read and plays the disk perfectly fine, so is there anyway to fix the tray?

Welcome to the forums Chris.
Have you checked the DVD tray drive belt? That may have slipped / failed if it keeps opening. If it has failed, you can pick them up on ebay for around £1.50-£2.00.

there could be missing teeth on the underside of the disc drawer, that usually acts with a cog from drive, causing not to close, rare that it be drive belt, drive belt is a cause for when the drive wont open, if all fails prob best looking into new drive
