Default Specific game won't load with current hdd?

    Hi,

    Looking for some advice.

Red dead redemption will no longer load on my xbox. Initially I thought it was the disc as other games would load ok. I went and bought a new copy but have the same issue.

Removed my hdd and the game will load, with old and new discs. Obviously I can't save games without a hdd.

I suppose the question would be, has anyone else had this issue before? will a new hdd fix the problem and if so, why do other games still load ok with hdd attached?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I've never heard of this happening before. :/

Does the Xbox read the disc at all? If it does you can try installing it to the HDD.

If not, you could format a memory stick to your Xbox allowing you to save the Red Dead Redemption save onto that (you'd only need about 512MB, if that). You'd have to put your gamer profile onto the memory stick each time if you want the achievements on your profile, but that only takes a few seconds.

I wouldn't rush out to buy a new HDD just in case it doesn't work. Maybe borrow one from a friend to try it out first?

    Hope this helps.

Sounds like a corrupted game save to me. As Ash said, I would move you gamertag + game saves to a USB memory stick and clear the content for RDR off of your HDD. Remove the memory stick and then try and boot it with the HDD attached. If it then loads, you've identified a faulty game save or DLC, so will need to delete the RDR game saves / DLC from your memory stick also.
